Volcano no show

The mist/clouds were against us this afternoon as they kept the volcanoes around Lake Atitlan from being seen.  A shame, but nothing that could have been prevented, just unlucky.  We had a fun half-hour boat trip over to Santiago Atitlan and have arrived at our second hotel, where we’ll be staying for just two nights.

We spent some time discussing lesson ideas on Maya food, music, language and modern Maya before a laughter-filled dinner at the lakeside.  The group felt like a real family today, yesterday’s ceremony has really brought us all together more.

So blame the clouds for the low number of greyish shots I can share:

Tomorrow we are visiting some villages that produce a range of arts and crafts, something we are all looking forward to.  However, I was told at dinner that we’d be doing some painting so I hope the Maya women are going to be impressed with my dogophant 🙂
